At Portable Space, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword, it’s a responsibility. From reducing emissions to developing innovative eco-products, we’re taking meaningful steps to lessen our environmental impact and build a greener future for our customers, colleagues, and communities.
A Clear Path to Net Zero
We’ve set an ambitious yet achievable goal: to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. To help get us there, we’re targeting a 5% year-on-year reduction in emissions, with every department playing a part. From procurement and manufacturing to logistics and head office operations, we are embedding sustainability across the business.
In May 2025, we established our internal Sustainability Team, made up of colleagues from across departments, to support this mission. Working alongside carbon reduction experts Auditel, the team helped deliver our first Whole Life Carbon report, a vital step in benchmarking emissions and identifying key opportunities for improvement.
Smarter Manufacturing, Longer Life Products
Sustainability starts with smart design. Our units are manufactured to stand the test of time, reducing the need for replacement and repair. We also hold our suppliers to the same standards, ensuring they share our values on material sourcing, packaging reduction and environmental responsibility.
From the initial build to final delivery, we’re focused on minimising waste, conserving resources, and ensuring that every unit can be reused and repurposed for many years to come.

Greener Products That Deliver Real Impact
We’re proud to offer a growing range of eco-friendly products for hire or purchase. This includes:
- Ecolink cabins
- Solar Space toilet range
- Solar-powered trailers in partnership with Groundhog
- Refurbished units available through our Container Buy Back & Part Exchange scheme
Our refurbished cabins are a great example of circular economy in action offering affordable, sustainable solutions while reducing waste.
We also work closely with customers on bespoke eco builds, such as an entirely off-grid solar-powered office with a viewing platform, created for use in a nature reserve.

Innovation in Logistics and Connectivity
Reducing emissions goes beyond the units themselves. Our transport team is constantly looking at ways to optimise delivery routes, reduce engine idling, and limit road miles. A standout innovation is our custom-built delivery truck, designed to maximise load capacity for our flat-pack storage and kiosk units saving time, fuel, and emissions.
We’re also introducing satellite Wi-Fi as an add-on to our cabins, enabling remote connectivity without digging or cabling reducing ground disruption and environmental impact.
Building a Sustainable HQ
Our headquarters in Bacton, Suffolk was transformed in 2023 with the addition of a new, sustainably built modular office. The site includes solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and EV charging points, a real-world showcase of the solutions we offer our customers.
In the office, we’re reducing paper usage through digital platforms like Docuware and encouraging energy-saving habits like switching off devices when not in use.

Green Week 2025
To further engage our team, we’re launching our first Green Week on 4th August – a week of sustainability-focused activities, awareness sessions, and eco-friendly challenges, culminating in a team event at the local bowling green.
Our goal is simple: to lead by example, offer more sustainable choices to our customers, and make real progress – year after year – towards a greener, more responsible future.
