A Journey Begins

As a leading provider of Modular Building Solutions, our journey with Walsham Gym characterises Portable Space’s commitment to delivering excellence, efficiency, and tailor-made solutions to all our clients. It all started in late 2022 when Neil Evans, the dedicated owner/operator of Walsham Gym, approached us with his vision: a secure, energy-efficient gym building that could promote health and well-being. Our mission was clear, and we went to work on the perfect solution.

Creating the Vision

Our initial consultations with Neil Evans and Mike Powles from Walsham FC’s Committee were led by our Modular team. The discussions were a deep dive into understanding their aspirations, which steered us to propose a solution to match their needs: a 3-bay Modular anti-vandal unit. With each module measuring 24′ x 10′ and a cumulative footprint of 24′ x 30′, we ensured ample space for gym users to work-out in space and comfort.

The design featured a raised ceiling at 2.75m to facilitate exercising and lifting of weights. Our choice of an external steel shell and a strengthened floor wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about delivering durability and security. Furthermore, we integrated insulation and air conditioning units to significantly enhance the building’s U-values, an essential part of determining building performance and calculating heat loss.

Navigating the Path to Installation

From the word go, our path was guided by consideration for our client’s timeline and budget. The project transitioned from order to delivery in an impressive eight weeks, a testament to our efficient processes and professionalism. In May 2023, the modules that were painted in the vibrant Colza yellow to reflect Walsham’s brand identity, were transported from our factory in Hull using a trusted third-party haulage company and our own Hiab Crane was used to offload and install the units.

The Reward of Dedication

Six months post-installation, the feedback from Neil Evans at Walsham Gym was both motivational and rewarding. A glowing review on Feefo underscored the first-class service they received, affirming our values of creating spaces that matter.

Reflecting on a Modular Project

Looking back at the Walsham Gym project, we see more than just a building. We embarked on this project with a vision to create not just a space, but a community hub where health and well-being could flourish. Providing the drawings, elevations, sections, and foundation layout helped to achieve building regulation approval and an A-rated energy performance – both being a real testament to team.

The Walsham Gym project stands as an example of our capabilities. We’re not just building structures; we’re creating the future, one modular building at a time.

“The transaction was seamless from start to finish and the people we dealt with on delivery were first class. We will certainly be using Portable Space for any further cabins, buildings, or containers.” – Mike Powles, Walsham FC Committee.
